Appointments
To ensure the best possible care for your pets, we operate by appointment only. This allows us to provide personalized attention and minimize wait times. While we make a sincere effort to see each patient on time, an inevitable delay may occur due to emergencies.
Yearly Exams
Per Illinois law, veterinarians are required to maintain a VCPR (veterinary-client-patient-relationship) in order to provide medical care, food and prescriptions. A "veterinarian-client-patient relationship" means that all of the following conditions have been met:
- The veterinarian has assumed the responsibility for making clinical judgments regarding the health of an animal and the need for medical treatment and the client, owner, or other caretaker has agreed to follow the instructions of the veterinarian;
- There is sufficient knowledge of an animal by the veterinarian to initiate at least a general or preliminary diagnosis of the medical condition of the animal. This means that the veterinarian has recently seen and is personally acquainted with the keeping and care of the animal by virtue of an in-person examination of the animal or by medically appropriate and timely visits to the premises where the animal is kept, or the veterinarian has access to the patient's records and has been designated by the veterinarian with the prior relationship to provide reasonable and appropriate medical care if the veterinarian with the prior relationship is unavailable; and
- The practicing veterinarian is readily available for follow-up in case of adverse reactions or failure of the treatment regimen or, if unavailable, has designated another available veterinarian who has access to the patient's records to provide reasonable and appropriate medical care.
A VCPR does not mean a relationship solely based on telephonic or other electronic communications.
This means that you must be an active client and your pet has had an in-person exam with a veterinarian within one year. Without this relationship, we will not be able to refill your pet's medication or food nor offer any specific medical advice.
Recently Adopted Pets
For those clients that have rescued a pet within the past 30 days from an organized, not-for-profit rescue group or not-for-profit shelter, we will waive the initial veterinary exam fee. Please bring the paperwork that accompanied your pet when you adopted. Additional charges for services or vaccines may apply.
Payment Options
Payment is expected when services are rendered. When unexpected illness strikes a pet, unexpected expense strikes as well. You shouldn't have to worry about how to get the best medical care for the pet you love. That’s why we’re pleased to offer CareCredit®, North America’s leading client payment program. The CareCredit program takes just 5 minutes to complete an application and will allow you to break down any visit charges over $200 into 6 monthly installments interest free. You can either apply at our hospital, where we'll call in your application over the phone for immediate approval, or apply yourself online.
Pet Insurance
Danada Veterinary hospital does not recommend one pet insurance company over another. We encourage you to do your own research about what will be best for your pet and your family. Some companies provide wellness care plans, while others only provide coverage for illnesses and unforeseen medical situations. If you do choose to get pet insurance, we recommend doing so as early as possible in your pet’s life before any pre-existing conditions become present. For help comparing insurance plans visit PawlicyAdvisor, a pet insurance marketplace that can help you find the perfect plan for your pet.
Missed Appointment Policy
Missed appointments and last-minute cancellations result in lost openings that would have helped us serve other patients and may be subject to a no-show fee. We require a credit card on file for new clients at the time of scheduling. Existing clients who miss an appointment and fail to cancel in advance will also be required to leave a credit card deposit before they can schedule their next appointment. To avoid this no-show fee, we request cancellation no later than the evening prior to the scheduled appointment. We understand extenuating circumstances occur so management will consider each case at their discretion if cancellation occurs the day of the appointment.
